Dear Frontliners,
Yesterday we talked about The Father's Heart For The Poor. Yesterday's Detroit Free Press had a timely article about the poor in our state and nation. You can read it at http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=2007702250658. Here are several simple ways you can share God's heart for the poor:
- Ask God to give you wisdom and show you what you can and should do
- Pray for "the least of these"
- Get out of debit so you can be generous and give
- Go on a missions trip with Kensington, the Churches of God (ages 16-26), or another group
- Sponsor a child with Compassion International
- Serve through Frontline Service (s2s)
- Sign the petition to end slavery at www.theamazingchange.com.
- Pray for me as I meet with the mayor of Ann Arbor on March 9 to ask how we can better serve Ann Arbor
In addition, Monika Miko shared these three practical ways you can identify with the poor:
- Fast from showers for five days (water is scarce in much of the world)
- Go to the laundry mat to do your laundry (if you have your own washer/dryer at home)
- Take public transportation
Free message notes (with bonus material not presented yesterday) and sermon downloads can be found here.
